Bangsar Shopping Center

In the sprawling city of Kuala Lumpur, visual character is critical to establishing an identity for a retail/office complex. Working closely with a team scattered across multiple locations, the first task was to build a consensus around a design direction, using mutiple iterations and refinements of the concept plan. This allowed careful integration of the interior and exterior, with thematic colors and forms to be repeated throughout the complex. In a context limited by existing development and subsurface structure, the plan worked to create a series of people-friendly spaces around the perimeter. Dense, lush planting, intense paving and unique water features all serve to set this location apart from the surrounding city fabric.
