Hualien Shinkong RanchThis project repositions the current property from a Leisure Farm attraction having 135,000 annual visitors to a national destination resort designed to attract 650,000 annual visitors by the year 2005. The Master Plan provides a framework for $60 million dollars of Phase I improvements, as well as a long term blueprint for the entire 700-hectare property. Phase improvements focus on increasing the quality and variety of the existing attractions. A defined "attraction zone" will be created with a new parking area, ticket plaza and tram system. Nine distinct attraction zones were created: European Gardens, Fun Zone, The Volcano, Sports Camp, Healthy Living Orchard, Life on the Farm, Aboriginal Village, and Water Adventure. In addition, a Spa Resort Complex will provide necessary overnight accommodations and help position the project correctly in the market. The Spa Center includes 240 rooms arranged in small courtyard groupings with fantastic mountain views, outdoor and indoor baths, and a series of lush and colorful tropical gardens. Phase I will also include an 18-hole golf course and a Golf Academy. Location: East Taiwan Role: Master Planner Date of Completion: 2002/Phase 1 Owner: Shinkong Insurance Company, Ltd. Implementation Cost: $60 million/Phase 1
